Today, I will be getting into my hives, with one specific purpose. I need to find queens.
In the image below, the two white boxes were once a single hive owned by my mentor. The one in the middle is not active. There were queen/swarm cells in the one on the left and the queen was on the right. It is April 20th and we moved them to Scuttlebutt Farm last weekend. I left them alone to get acclimated and they have been very active over the last week.
Today, I will be inspecting the hives to verify that each has a queen. This will likely take me a while because queens are difficult for me to find probably more due to inexperience. I do believe there is a queen in each one because the level of activity in each is … busy?
